Sombras, 2023 · Porcelain, metal wire

These suspended pieces are made with very thin porcelain. They resemble the fabric of dresses that women wear in Andalucía, Flamenco or wedding dresses. They also recall corals and blooms. They are very feminine, beautiful and playful. They move with the wind, making bell like sounds. Their name points to the reflections and shadow projections they create. I think of them as an homage to the women in my family. Many of them were great embroiders. It is a tradition I continue in my own way. I sew the pieces together with a wire, the same wire used to fix ceramics that are broken to put them back together.
